Planning is now in its final stages but any more offers of help would still be much appreciated. We already have 750 children booked to come to church during this period and there may still be more to add to the list! There is also a Community Day planned for Saturday 19 March. If you think you can help in any way please do get in touch with me. Sally Sibley 07733256372 email:sallys@bristoldiocese.org

Concert in Colston Hall Sat 12th March @ 6pm

From Suzanne Frank “Bach’s St Matthew Passion contains some of the most moving and comforting music I know. Listening to it in Lent and with the background of personal faith will make it a very special experience, as it relates the story of Jesus’ last days. Please note the early start of 6pm. If you would like tickets, I can organise them for you (susanne.frank1@virginmedia.com) or go to www.bristolchoral.co.uk to order on line.” Flyers in porch

The Church will be decorated for Easter on Good Friday 25th March from 2.30pm-4.00pm. The colour scheme as usual for Easter will be whites and yellows of the spring flowers, with plenty of foliage. There will be a list for names on the shelf in church, but you don’t have to be an expert with flowers, just come along and help. Our “flower arranger” numbers are low, so we really do need more help! Thank you

If you have a CMS collecting box at home, please bring it back to church as Diana (Gardner) would like to have them, as soon as possible Thank you

Mothers’ Union “ MAKE A MOTHER’S DAY”

“Buy a Mothering Sunday Gift and help to transform a life”

Help a mum do the best for her children – This Mothering Sunday, as you give thanks for your Mother, you could also make a difference for a mum in need

Helping families thrive means the wider community will too – Every family needs support at times, It can be as little as helping them talk through issues they face together, or as specific as providing the opportunity to read and write.

There are catalogues with all the relevant information on the notice board by the refreshment area. Do have a look and do please take one if you are interested Thank you

GWEN BLAGG – a” thank you” from Grace (her daughter) & Martyn

“We would like to say a huge thank you to you (Teresa) and the congregation at St James Church for the love and kindness shown at Mums funeral last Friday. The sense of feeling of love and friendship shown by the church family was overwhelming. Thank you for all who took part in the service, in any way, and for those who provided the wonderful refreshments too. We are so grateful to you all. It felt like Mum had come home to her church family and the place she dearly loved. Thank you”

Carole King is standing down from her role in the church office and so after Easter a paid vacancy exists for a few hours a week. In the past this has been on a Friday morning in the office, but it could be more flexible, including some working from home. The work will involve a degree of word processing and printing from the computer and so we need someone comfortable working with computers. If you are interested or can think of anyone who might be, then please speak to Teresa, Jackie or Roger or Derek Turner

On Saturday 30th April @ 7.30pm another skittles evening is being organised by Diana (Gardner), to be held at Mangotsfield United Football Club, Cossham Street. The cost will be £5 (adult) & £3 (children), which includes a buffet supper. There will be a raffle for the Spend a Penny Fund. Please sign the list by the refreshment area – closing date 24th April. Diana Tel. 9570505 Thank you
